Welcome to this article, which is an in-depth guide to paper printing press, Before you buy a paper printing press, check out our guide that covers everything you should consider to find the best machine for you.

1. What is a paper printing press?

A paper printing machine is a machine for printing words and images. Modern paper printing presses generally consist of plate loading, inking, embossing, feeding (including folding), and other mechanisms. It works as follows: the text and image to be printed are first made into a printing plate, mounted on a paper printing press, and then the ink is applied to the text and image on the printing plate by manual or paper printing press, and then transferred directly or indirectly to paper or other substrates (such as textiles, metal plate, plastic, leather, wood, glass, and ceramic), so as to reproduce the same printed matter as the printing plate. The invention and development of the paper printing press played an important role in the spread of human civilization and culture.

2. What is the principle of a paper printing press?

Two types of paper printing presses are discussed below:

1) Working principle of screen paper printing machine

The transmission mechanism transmits power, so that the scraping plate in motion extrusion ink and screen plate, screen plate, and substrate to form an imprinted line, because the screen has tension N1 and N2, on the scraping plate force F2, the elastic back screen plate in addition to the imprint line is not in contact with the substrate, ink in the extrusion pressure F1 plate, through the mesh, Leakage from the moving imprint line to the substrate.

In the printing process, the screen printing plate and the scraping plate are in relative motion, extrusion pressure F1 and resilience F2 also move synchronously, the screen under the action of resilience, timely return, and substrate out of contact, so as to avoid the impression dirty. That is, the screen in the printing stroke is constantly in deformation and rebound.

2) Working principle of flat screen curved screen printing machine

Flat screen surface screen printing is a cylindrical or conical surface with flat screen printing. Under certain conditions can also be elliptic surface, drum surface, arc surface, and other curved surface screen printing. Dry screen curved screen printing machines use a flat screen on the surface of the printing machine.

Working principle of flat surface screen printing machine: a- roller support b- axis support c- Mosaic support. When printing, the flat screen plate and the substrate movement, and the scraping plate are static. The flat screen printing plate is clamped on the screen frame by the flat screen curved screen printing press for uniform translation, due to the friction of the screen being placed on the supporting device of the substrate rotation. The linear speed of the curved substrate at the embossing line is consistent with the moving speed of the flat screen printing plate to achieve scraping printing.

3. What is the workflow of a paper printing press?

The process of operating a paper printing machine usually includes below procedures:

1) The working cycle procedure of the flat-screen printing machine

Take a flat screen, flat monochrome, semi-automatic hand screen printing machine as an example, one of its working cycles is feed → positioning → falling plate → drop ink plate, lift back ink plate → scraping stroke → lift to ink plate → drop back ink plate → lifting plate → return ink stroke → release positioning → receiving.

In continuous cyclic action, as long as the function can be realized, the time occupied by each action should be as short as possible, so as to shorten the cycle of each working cycle and improve the working efficiency.

2) Imprint line

In the printing stroke, the ink plate extrusion ink and screen plate, screen plate, and substrate form a contact line, known as the imprint line. This line is at the edge of the scraping board, and numerous embossing lines form the printing surface. Achieving the ideal impression line is difficult because the printing stroke is a dynamic process.

4. What are the precautions for the use of the paper printing press?

There are some precautions about paper printing press below:

  • Ensure that the leader is responsible for supervising the safety of the machine equipment and crew operators.
  • Before the operation, the operators must work clothes, work caps, and work shoes dressed neatly, buckle the skirt and cuffs, a pocket is not easy to fall out of the sundries, do not wear watches and all kinds of accessories.
  • Before starting the machine, the required lubricating oil (grease) should be added to each oil filling point, lubrication point, and oil tank of the machine.
  • Without approval, non-crew members shall not start or operate the machine without permission. Assistants and apprentices shall work under the guidance of the pilot.
  • Before starting the machine, check whether there is debris in all parts of the fuselage. The signal must be given first (press the safety bell), and the machine can be started only after confirming the safety around the machine.
  • Before the operation of the machine, the first reverse number of weeks, and then a positive number of weeks, so as to avoid debris between the rollers to destroy the blanket, printing plate, etc.
  • When the machine is running, it is strictly prohibited to touch the working surface with hands, repair and wipe the machine, and cross the rotating parts. The protective device of the machine should be kept complete.
  • The crew shall strictly observe their posts according to the division of labor, always pay attention to the operation of all parts of the machine, and stop the machine immediately if any problem is found.
  • The working area shall be kept clean and unimpeded, with the floor. The worktable, machine around no debris, maintenance tools, and spare parts should be placed in the specified position.
  • No one is allowed to laugh, play, talk, or hurry children near the machine while it is working.
  • At the end of the work, clean the machine, protect the printing plate, scrub the blanket, emboss the roller and roller, turn off the power and fill in the work log.
  • Regular maintenance and repair of the machine and filling in the maintenance record data can extend the service life of the machine, and improve product quality and safety production.
  • Non-staff members are prohibited from operating the machine.
